Since November 2020, the Kilala Lelum Mobile Outreach Program (MOP) has operated to provide outreach primary care services to individuals in Vancouver whose healthcare needs have not been met by more conventional models of care.

Envisioned as both a mobile health clinic and a medicine house on wheels, the Kilala Lelum MOP van offers a combination of scheduled drop-in clinics, targeted outreach for individual MOP members, and Cultural Wellness outreach services.

Primary care services are provided by an interdisciplinary team composed of Medical Office Assistants, a Program Manager, a Nurse Practitioner, Outreach Workers, and Registered Nurses, while cultural care and medicine (including smudging, cedar brushing, ceremonial song, and one-on-one support) are shared through the work and care of Kilala Lelum Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

If you would like more information about the Mobile Outreach Program, please contact Erinn Taggart (MOP Manager) at [email protected] or 778-866-9746.

If you would like a copy of our monthly drop-in calendar or to make a request for Cultural Wellness outreach services for an individual or organization, please contact Scott Bowlsby (Harm Reduction Coordinator) at [email protected].

Kilala Lelum’s Mobile Outreach Program is made possible through the financial contribution of the Telus Health for Good Program:

Since 2014, TELUS Health for Good has been helping to remove many of the barriers Canadians living on the streets face in receiving medical care and reconnecting thousands of patients to the public healthcare system. The Mobile Health Clinics powered by TELUS Health provide essential primary medical care, including electronic medical records, generating nearly 150,000 patient visits since the program’s inception. Today, through numerous partnerships, volunteers, and the power of technology, TELUS Health for Good is an efficient and innovative mobile healthcare delivery tool to reach communities in need by bringing healthcare directly to the people that need it most. With TELUS’ commitment of over $12M to the Health for Good program, we are working towards the goal that all Canadians should have access to healthcare regardless of their socio-economic status.
